

What Is It?
Exploring the Health Professions© is a hands-on curriculum package and corresponding teacher workshop designed to raise healthcare career awareness in junior/senior high school students. The curriculum is set up to demonstrate five (5) career clusters:
- Direct Patient Care
- Physical Rehabilitation
- Therapy & Fitness
- Clinical Laboratory Sciences Care
- In the Operating Room.
The toolkit, which participants use in hands-on exercises, is comprised of demonstrative tools used to execute exercises corresponding to each of the career clusters. Each participant will take with them the curriculum activity book, toolkit, posters, CD and video to perform these engaging exercises with their students.

What Will Participants Receive?
- An overview of the development of the curriculum materials.
- An understanding of how the curriculum activities meet NYS Learning Standards.
- An understanding of the health workforce shortage and the need to promote the health professions to youth as viable career options.
- Information on how to conduct the curriculum activities and respond to student questions.
- The ability to identify which supplies and resources go with which activity.
- A toolkit containing the curriculum, four posters, toolkit, video and CD game (one set per participant). All of this is valued at over $500.
- Credit for professional development with a certificate of participation.
