Pathways to Success (Pathways) is a middle and high school Career Preparedness and Life Skills program created and developed by Catskill Hudson Area Health Education Center (Catskill Hudson AHEC).
The Pathways workshops are divided into six segments:
- Life Skills
- Personal Appearance
- Career Preparation
- Interview Skills
- Personal Finance
- How to Obtain a Driver’s License
In the Life Skills component of this program, students will explore how facial expressions, body language, attitude and listening skills all contribute to other people’s perception of them. The Personal Appearance segment focuses on making positive impressions with clothing, makeup, accessories and personal hygiene. The Career Preparation segment focuses on choosing a career, understanding and completing pertinent paperwork (such as working papers and social security cards), how to write an effective resume, cover letters, thank you letters and how/where to find career resources. Interview Skills will be a hands-on exercise to familiarize students with the interview process and make them feel more comfortable with this type of interaction. Personal Finance reviews banks and types of financial accounts, building good credit and includes a budgeting exercise that will prepare them for the financial reality of independent living. How to Obtain a Driver’s License is for student information only and is not designed as a program lesson. Pathways is made up of 17 lessons, but the lesson plans are designed to be adaptable to the instructor’s needs. An instructor may decide to use all or just some of the lessons and teach them in the order that suits their needs. Pathways to Success meets New York State Learning Standards.

Who Done It? Solve the Medical Mystery® (Who Done It?) is a youth produced, middle school, health career awareness program that was created by Catskill Hudson AHEC and developed in coordination with the Communications & Journalism department of the Ulster BOCES New Visions Education Careers Exploration program. Who Done It? is similar to a murder mystery, only with a better outcome. In an amusing way, the storyline presents a crime that the audience must solve. However, each of the four suspects has a physical ailment that requires medical treatment which must be taken into consideration during the investigation. The audience will decide Who Done It? by assessing the crime and physical ailments to determine who they believe could have physically committed the crime. After all the clues are given, the video is paused and the audience is given a questionnaire to complete, which contains multiple choice, medically-related questions correlating with the video. The last question is, "According to the evidence and taking into consideration the physical health of all of the suspects, who do you think committed the crime?" When the questionnaires are completed and handed in, the video resumes with the lab analysis of the evidence taken at the crime scene, and the culprit is revealed.
Who Done It? is available to all schools, after school organizations, youth bureaus and anyone who would like to solve a mystery and learn about health occupations in the process.
